A continuation of my sous-bois series from Kivinokka, this piece captures the forest in its final transition before winter. The composition celebrates the ‘fleeting fall’ through a vibrant contrast of orange foliage against a cool palette of turquoise and grayish blues. Using heavy impasto marks, I’ve built a tactile surface that brings a striking three-dimensionality to the thicket and forest floor, inviting the viewer to step directly into the autumn chill.
