Into the Forest: Contemporary Sous-bois Painting
Expressive landscapes from Finland and across Europe
I specialize in capturing the mood of a place, from a sun-drenched forest to a quiet street at night. My paintings use bold colors and rich textures to bring a contemporary perspective to both nature and city life. By blending the styles of the past with my own unique process, I reveal the beauty found in the world around us.
Oil, Sticks and Acrylics
My work is defined by the expressive qualities of oil and acrylic paints. I frequently use oil sticks for their rich, direct texture and bold, impactful marks. This is complemented by traditional oil paint, which provides the versatility to mix larger range of colors and create intricate details. I also use acrylics for their quick-drying nature and aquarelles when travelling.
Oil Sticks
Sennelier Oil Sticks are artist-quality colors with excellent lightfastness. A portion of the oil is replaced with a neutral mineral wax, giving the colors their unique stick form while maintaining the properties of traditional oil paint.
Oil Paint
My oil palette is composed of Royal Talens Van Gogh oil paints for their high pigment concentration and good lightfastness. For select colors, I use Rembrandt extra-fine quality paints to ensure superior lightfastness and permanence.
Acrylics
For my acrylic work, I choose Liquitex Heavy Body and Sennelier Abstract acrylic paints for their creamy texture and high concentration of pigments. I use a broad range of colors, including vibrant metallic and iridescent shades.
