This work continues my lavender fields series, now in larger size. Just like the smaller version, the scene is rendered from an aerial perspective, creating a dramatic interplay between the earth and the sky. The lavender fields unfold as an abstracted, textural expanse of deep, rich violet contrasted against orange yellow ground. The intense foreground pushes back against the cool serenity of the immense blue mountains meeting a cool sky layered with light turquoise-blue clouds. The work captures not just the sight, but the breathtaking, expansive atmosphere of the region.
